We, the Undersecretariat for Defence Industries (SSM), are proud to share the achievements of our Turkish defence industries with our friends and allies, the world over. Since its establishment in 1985, the SSM has been entrusted with the responsibility for a very large number of major defence projects with a total value of over US$30 Billion. Painstaking and sustained efforts have been made to meet the challenges associated with the creation of such a broad range of expertise in the country’s national defence industrial capabilities, and as such we can say with confidence that a dramatic transformation has been made in the Turkish defence sector towards world-class standards. It is no surprise that Turkish defence exports have increased several-fold over the last decade, given Turkey’s willingness to share openly its hard-earned capabilities. Today the Turkish defence sector can claim a strong presence in the market in a broad range of areas: from aerospace, naval shipbuilding, and tracked and wheeled armored vehicles, to specialized textile, armaments and munitions, missiles and rocketry and advanced defence electronics. Turkish companies operating in different sectors are proving themselves to be strong competitors in the international defence market, and we believe that our defence industrial capabilities and initiators will play no small part in contributing to regional and global peace in the future.
